"I have been to lots of networking events over the past few years and did not really get much business from them. What I like about Meet & Link is the small focused networking groups. You get to practise real business techniques and you really get to know the people you are networking with. It has a real community feel. Nitzan has been a great help with her practical advice on how to market your business. I am sure Meet & Link will grow very fast, so be sure to sign up fast and get the benefits of this wonderful network."

Twitter diarrhoea..

Why is it that some so-called (or self-appointed) 'social media' and 'Twitter experts' tweet exactly the same stuff several times a day/week?

Today is one of the very few (perhaps the first) occasions that I've kept twitter active and live on one of my computer screens since 8.30am and I've noticed that some Twitter whizz-kids seem to regurgitate the same tweets again & again…

Not re-tweeting interesting snippets from others, but their own material pouring forth continuously?

Why is that? What am I missing?

Realy depends of course on your reasons for using Twitter - business, social networking or simply fun. Commercially, ued correctly, it can be a wonderful asset to marketing plans.

Automated Tweets. Sounds like platform specific spam to me.

Overly automated

Some people lose sight of why they use social media especially when they start to automate their accounts. They think that they have to send out one or two twwets out every few hours just to make sure that they are seen. However, you can automate. You write your tweets and load them up and program to send them out at particular times (as well as repeats). When I come across someone who has automated their progam to send me Tweets using key words I normally unfollow, especially if I just received 20 tweets that are of no interest and the key word is so off the mark it makes a nonsense of the whole system. I stick to personal tweets - it's more fun. Pete

Used correctly, Twitter and other social media tools can be useful and beneficial to business. I've written an article on the subject here: http://bit.ly/94wjRV We Tweet about unusual, weird, funny stories then shoe-horn something to connect the stories to print. People find it amusing, follow us and then recall us when they find themselves in a position where they require our services. I share the sentiment about the so-called "experts" though.

I think it's symptomic of most social media: can't see the forest for the tree, and it is exactly the reason why I can't be bothered with Twitter.
